Funding & Emergency Grants
In addition to our annual grants, the CFOB has strong relationships in the community and the flexibility to issue emergency grants at times of need or when a crisis has occurred. Because of this unique position, the CFOB has been able to support NOSH, a food delivery service program, after its devastating fire, enabled housing stability for families during COVID and supported the People’s Pantry when food costs began to rise due to supply chain issues.
Senior Support Services
The CFOB knows the importance of having a place where older adults can access a multitude of resources, stay socially engaged and remain connected to the community. With this in mind the CFOB supports programs such as “Day Break” at the Life Enrichment Center. This program offers socialization and recreation for individuals with memory impairment, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related conditions.
Educational Programs
Supporting children in our community has been a pillar of the CFOB since its inception. We are able to support after school and summer programs in a variety of ways including summer camp scholarships at the Boys & Girls Club of Oyster Bay, the YFCA and the Waterfront Center. We also provide financial support to the People’s Pantry and its Homework Helpers Club which creates an environment for children to have homework help after school as well as a healthy snack. The CFOB also supports ESL classes for children and adults as well as mentorship programs and back-to-school supply drives and fundraisers.
Mental Health Services
Social services including mental health services for social and emotional wellbeing are an important part of the CFOB’s mission to support its community residents at every stage of life. The Youth and Family Counseling Agency (YFCA) provides many of these important services, and the CFOB supports programs, including counseling services, designed to strengthen the lives of individuals and families.
Food Assistance
Providing food security for our local community is a vital part of the CFOB’s work. We have a strong relationship with The People’s Pantry, a client choice pantry full of fresh produce, meats, fresh breads and canned items, which supports over 200 local families. In addition, the CFOB supports a program for subsidized nutritious meals at the Life Enrichment Center.
Social Engagement
The CFOB supports programs for all ages to ensure local residents enjoy everything the Oyster Bay community has to offer and to provide resources where needed. The ‘Evening Out’ program at the Life Enrichment Center offers customized activities for older adults who are looking to get out for an evening, and groups such as the Community Social Action Committee (CSAC) facilitate joint social efforts by religious and welfare groups in the area.
Vital Services
In addition to the mental health programs offered in the community, the CFOB is able to support safe spaces for quality healthcare and physical wellness through its support of the People Loving People’s free clinic which offers health screenings, vaccinations and other vital services.
